Bought these to keep an eye on the dogs when were away. HomeKit integration is great. The only downside, and its not really a downside for me, is you have to use the OEM app to remotely reposition them. Not a big deal for me.
Super simple value and easy to set up. The video quality is at the same level as my ring security cameras, and this one can actually zoom in (3x digital zoom), and the digital zoom does not degrade the quality much, it is still a very useable image. The only complaint I have is that sometimes when I am trying to turn the camera there is a lot of lag, but otherwise its a very good camera and I can recommend it.
I joined the HomeKit Ecosystem last year and my home is mainly set up with Vocolinc hardware. Theyve been consistent for me, cost effective and have worked well in my smart home environment. After 72 hours, here are my initial thoughts.
*Slightly bulky. But completely understandable given our current technology. Id like to see these cameras become a little slimmer.
*Instructions cover the basics, but not enough to understand and make the most of the cameras features. And it is packed with features. Id recommend going to YouTube as theyre is a great review Id recommend from HomeKit News and Reviews on this camera.
*USB C to A cord is 2 meters. If your placing on the corner of a ceiling, you may need a larger cord. Ive had to order longer cords as a result.
*Cost effective! I found the price for two cameras to be very competitive. Ive seen and tried cameras with a much higher price tag and very limited in functionality.
*Easy to use. If you use any other Vocolinc products, the flow and use will be similar to those user interfaces.
*Vocolinc App/HomeKit. This is a tricky one as its really a Con and Pro. The Vocolinc app provides much more access to the cameras features yet HomeKit does put a limit to this. Im not entirely sure the reasons why. But I find myself having to bounce between both apps, such as in cases where I need to adjust the camera view. See the YouTube review I referenced.
*Built seems solid, camera clarity is clear, audio and speaker is clear. Ive had no issues tinkering with this over the last days.
*Privacy!!! Recordings are through iCloud. Ive read and observed that there are other camera providers that house your recordings on their servers. Im also running iOS 15 dev which unclad the 5 camera limit on the 2 TB plan.
Again, these are my observations in the last 72 hours.
Given this early experience I have ordered another camera to also see how a multiple set up works. Ill consider updating my review should my experiences require it.
I purchased these cameras for my daughters rooms. I wanted to be able to take my 5 year old outside to play while her baby sister napped but my traditional baby monitors signal wouldnt reach to our back yard. These things worked perfectly! I can check on the house from anywhere!!! And the picture is crystal clear day or night! Now when my daughter and I are playing out back, Im watching my little one sleep. And when I leave town? I move the cameras to my front and back door areas. With the motion detector I get notifications if anyone enters my home! Freaked out my sister-in-law when she popped over to mow our lawn for us lol. Did I mention the two way talk? They hear me, I hear them. Its perfect. I will definitely buy more soon!!
